    Are you buying more guns?

Posted by Rob Longenecker on 13th November 2008

Obama’s election has many of us buying guns and ammo in anticipation of coming restrictions as reported in one of many articles.

I’m headed for the gun show in Houston this weekend and taking a friend who’s never been to a gunshow but wants to buy a gun for himself and one for his wife. I have what I need and ammo to boot so I may not buy anything.

HOW ABOUT YOU? Are you buying more guns and ammo now? Let us know. What do you think Obama and the dems will try to do first to restrict our gun rights?

Obama thinks our Constitution is flawed.

Posted by Rob Longenecker on 27th October 2008

From Bill Whittle at National Review Online:

“Speaking on a call-in radio show in 2001, you can hear Senator Obama say things that should profoundly shock any American — or at least those who have not taken the time to dig deeply enough into this man’s beliefs and affiliations. Abandon all hope, ye who enter here. (click “here” for Obama audio on YouTube)

    Barack Obama, in 2001:

“You know, if you look at the victories and failures of the civil-rights movement, and its litigation strategy in the court, I think where it succeeded was to vest formal rights in previously dispossessed peoples. So that I would now have the right to vote, I would now be able to sit at a lunch counter and order and as long as I could pay for it, I’d be okay, but the Supreme Court never entered into the issues of redistribution of wealth, and sort of more basic issues of political and economic justice in this society.

And uh, to that extent, as radical as I think people tried to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution — at least as it’s been interpreted, and Warren Court interpreted it in the same way, that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties: [It] says what the states can’t do to you, says what the federal government can’t do to you, but it doesn’t say what the federal government or the state government must do on your behalf. (italics added)

And that hasn’t shifted, and one of the, I think, the tragedies of the civil-rights movement was because the civil-rights movement became so court-focused, uh, I think that there was a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing and activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalitions of power through which you bring about redistributive change. And in some ways we still suffer from that.”

He thinks the Constitution should say what government should do for the people, especially that it should outline the distribution of wealth. Fact is, the purpose of the Constitution is to protect citizens from the power of the federal governement.

Hurricane Ike really messed us up.

Posted by Rob Longenecker on 26th September 2008

Two weeks after Ike and I’m one of 400,000 people in Houston without power. I’m posting this using my iPhone.

If you were told your order would ship on Monday, the 15th, it will now ship next Monday, Sept. 29th.

Tucker has power at the shop and is hard at work so we will be shipping a boatload of orders this time.

If you sent me an email and did not get a response, I apologize. Blame Ike.

Thanks for sticking with us; we’re almost back to normal.

    Celebrate freedom
    +++++++++++++++++++

Freedom is the great enabler of opportunity. When you are free to act in accordance with your most treasured values and interests, anything you can imagine is possible.

Essential to freedom is responsibility. It is by accepting and exercising full responsibility over every aspect of your life that you become truly free to live and fulfill your own unique vision.

Freedom carries with it great power. Responsibility keeps that power focused in a positive and productive direction.

Freedom, lovingly tempered with responsibility, has produced many great and wonderful things. Even more wonderful is the fact that freedom’s best rewards are yet to come.

For in freedom there is endless promise. With freedom, the possibilities for goodness and fulfillment are always growing more abundant.

Celebrate freedom and, more importantly, creatively put it to good use in your own special way. With your life, uncover and bring to life some of freedom’s treasures that have never been seen before.

    Leather-Lined Answer now available. NEW*

Posted by Rob Longenecker on 14th February 2008

A patent-pending process allows Tucker to bond leather to kydex as part of the molding process. We recently introduced the “Silent Thunder” line of leather-lined kydex belt holsters and single clip IWB’s with only a 3-4 week turnaround. See the introductory post for “Silent Thunder.”

The idea behind a leather-lined kydex holster is silence. When you draw you make no “snick” sound to alert the bad guy. That may not be important to many of you, but it is to some - particularly the military guys who saw Tucker’s leather-lined holsters at the SHOT Show. In addition, many people just like premium cowhide next to their favorite gun.

We have also added a leather-lined Answer just to be fair. Tucker’s now made it easier to decide on what holster will work best - leather or kydex. Like all Tucker holsters, the new holsters have a lifetime satisfaction guarantee.

    Global what?

Posted by Rob Longenecker on 9th February 2008

Global cooling is now a concern.

“Back in 1991, before Al Gore first shouted that the Earth was in the balance, the Danish Meteorological Institute released a study using data that went back centuries that showed that global temperatures closely tracked solar cycles.

To many, those data were convincing. Now, Canadian scientists are seeking additional funding for more and better “eyes” with which to observe our sun, which has a bigger impact on Earth’s climate than all the tailpipes and smokestacks on our planet combined.

And they’re worried about global cooling, not warming.”

What an interesting turn of events.

This underlines argument that’s been under the surface of the global warming debate for a long time - whether variances in the activity or our sun has the most impact on the earth’s temperature or greenhouse gases.

“……As we have noted many times, perhaps the biggest impact on the Earth’s climate over time has been the sun.”

    We’ll see.

    Looking forward.

Posted by Rob Longenecker on 6th December 2007

2007 is fast drawing to a close.  2008 awaits. What awaits you in 2008?

“From where you are right now, the possibilities stretch out, as far as you can imagine, in every direction. Which ones will you choose to follow?

There are things you currently know nothing about, that you can learn. There are places you’ve never heard of, that you can discover and know.

There are endless combinations of people, places, things, ideas, and events poised to come into your life. Which of them will you choose to experience?

There are magnificent achievements, perfectly suited for you, which you have not yet even considered. There are things of great value that can flow from your passions, your skills, your knowledge and your willingness to make something meaningful out of it all.

The problems are many in this world, yet they are very small indeed when compared to the possibilities for a rich and fulfilling life. On this day, in this moment, you have the opportunity to choose from among a delicious variety of potential paths.

Life begins anew with the breath you take right now. Seize this grand opportunity and make it truly great.”

    Boo’s become news.

Posted by Rob Longenecker on 17th August 2007

Carl Rove’s recent announcement that he was leaving his job at the White House drew cheers in the newsroom of the Seattle Times newspaper. The cheers became news when a memo written by executive editor Dave Boardman, admonishing the staff to refrain from such open partisanship, surfaced in a national story.

Now there are boo’s in the news. Joe Scarborough, on MSNBC, referenced the Seattle story and recalled his first day in the MSNBC newsroom when frequent loud boo’s broke out during the 2003 Presidential State of the Union speech. Bush was boo’d in the newsroom. Here’s how Joe tells it.

Unless, you’re reading an editorial opinion, you might expect to get even-handed coverage of news events. It’s not news that there’s bias in the press. Do you think it colors news reporting? Could it have an effect on the news we get, our opinions of politicans, the outcome of elections?

To quote the latest Hyundai commercials - “DUH!”
