New Tucker Gunleather AIWB Holster (Appendix IWB)

Posted by Rob Longenecker on 4th October 2008

Some CCW holders like to carry their IWB holster in front of their hip. Tucker’s Cover Up has worked well for many in the AIWB position because it is so adjustable. Our new AIWB holster is made specifically for wear in front of the hip and will be better suited and more comfortable for this kind of carry.

Currently, we have a contest on Glock Talk (www.glocktalk.com) to name the holster and win any Tucker IWB of your choice. You may want to visit Glock Talk today and enter your suggestion. The contest ends on Saturday, October 11, 2008.

The holster is adjustable for cant and height and has one tenssion screw. Notice the sweatshield behind the back of the slide for comfort.

I look forward to your suggestions and comments. NOTICE: THE DESIGN IS COPYRIGHTED.

    More new guns to come.

Gun makers are bringing out new models faster than ever, and we’re doing our best to keep up.

The Silent Thunder (leather-lined) and Easy Reach kydex holsters are available for these guns with only 3 week turnaround.

**The Silent Thunder (IWB or belt holster) is not only available quickly, but  we recently surveyed all our customers who bought Silent Thunder holsters since they first came out.

Everyone who responded liked the leather lining, saying it’s incredibly smooth on the draw.

98% of those who answered the survey said the Silent Thunder more than met their expectations. In fact, they were overwhelmingly pleased.

What is AIWB? It’s appendix carry - IWB

Posted by Rob Longenecker on 6th August 2008

I get more and more calls about holsters for carrying IWB between the belt buckle and the hip - about 1-2 o’clock on righty’s and 10-11 o’clock for lefty’s.

Gabe Suarez and others have made this mode of carry more popular lately and we’ve been asked to create a holster that works for appendix carry.

We know it’s got to be stable, secure, comfortable, vertical cant and height adjustable. Also, it needs to bring the gun butt in toward the body more than a similar holster would for behind the hip carry.

What else do we need to know to create a holster just for those of you who are looking to appendix carry or improve on the rig you’ve got?

    Smooth as silk.

Posted by Rob Longenecker on 26th July 2008

What does it feel like to draw from Tucker’s Silent Thunder holsters?

Here’s part of a review of our Silent Thunder IWB’s and belt holsters that talks about the leather lining:

“If you have any experience with Tucker Gunleather, you know that he uses only the world’s finest Hermann Oak leather. The lining of the Silent Thunder is no exception. Pressing your prized pistol inside the Silent Thunder is as smooth as silk. Drawing it is the same, in reverse: Consistent, predictable and enjoyable.

    SilentThunder1.jpg

(Note: Sweatshields shown in picture are a no-cost option - You can order without.)

I was rather concerned that the addition of a leather lining might slow the presentation, versus a kydex holster. My splits revealed only minimal hesitation, about .07 seconds. However, I found that my first shot was better placed, as a result, I believe, of taking a firmer firing grip on the pistol and smoother draw from the holster.

Using a strain gage, I noted only about .6 lbs more strain than plain kydex and substantially less than when drawing from boned leather holsters (about 20 lbs., avg.).

Even compared to the most detailed boned holster, retention was not sacrificed. The Silent Thunder has a firm grip on your gun. Turning a fully-loaded, full-sized 1911 upside down and shaking it, could not dislodge the weapon. Another advantage is found in the dual tension screws, which allow for extremely personalized tension adjustment.

The drawstroke with the Silent Thunder holsters simply must be felt, to be believed. I have tried many holster configurations, but I have to say that the Silent Thunder offers the smoothest presentation I have ever experienced. There are no drag-spots, or hesitations whatsoever. Rather, there is incredibly consistent pull, start to finish. Everyone I invited to try the Silent Thunder commented on this phenomenon.”

Here’s a link to the entire review from M-1911 Pistols Org.

Maybe it’s your turn to try this amazing holster - the Silent Thunder.

Here’s a recent comment found on the DownrangeTV forum.

“I just got mine - the IWB version.  What a fine piece of craftsmanship.  It is everything that it’s advertised to be.  It’s very fast, silent, comfortable, and does an outstanding job of controlling the firearm.  I can be “frugal” at times and was a bit hesitant to spend that much on a holster - I mean, come on, it’s just a freaking holster.  Now all I can say is “It is a bargain.”  In this world of mass produced mediocrity, I tend to evangelize about products that I really think rise above the ordinary and do an outstanding job and the Silent Thunder holster is definitely one of those products.  Highly recommended. And NO I am not associated with Tucker gunleather in any way.  I just really, really, really like their product.”

Delivery is only 3 weeks or less.

People love the Tucker Silent Thunder

Posted by Rob Longenecker on 3rd July 2008

    Here’s a recent comment from a guy who’s carried a long time.

“Rob, my Silent Thunder IWB arrived today and I’ve been wearing it since 11 a.m. It is by far the most comfortable holster I’ve ever had.

Concealment is top notch along with the fit and finish. I’m going to recommend this to every one I know. I work in law enforcement here in Illinois where many think guns even in the hands of peace officers is quite shocking when they are off duty, so to me the best features of your holster are comfort and concealment.

Frankly I got tired  of eating lunch and being interrupted as I get approached by the local police on high alert because someone called them on me because they saw the outline of my pistol under my shirt. Once I show them my credentials everybody is friends but why go through the hassle? I’m confident that problem will no longer exist with your holster on my hip. Sincerely, Eric.

P.S. It also has the fastest draw I’ve seen as well!”

It’s true. Leather-lined kydex has turned out to be a really great alternative to all-leather and all-kydex. Want something so smooooooth, you’ll be talking about it for weeks? That’s Tucker’s Silent Thunder. It’s patent-pending and Tucker found a way to do it that others have been trying to do for years.

Posted by Rob Longenecker on 20th June 2008

Here’s a nice long and detailed review of Tucker’s Silent Thunder leather-lined kydex holsters as posted on M1911.org.  It’s raining orders for Silent Thunder over here and this article gives a few good reasons why.

The feel of the the specially-treated slick leather will have you sitting in front of the TV practicing your draw over and over and over. It just feels that good. (Be sure to unload and leave your ammo in the other room.)

Tucker’s Texas Heritage IWB - more popular than ever

Posted by Rob Longenecker on 12th June 2008

I’m amazed at how many new customers are still discovering the Tucker Texas Heritage

Tucker’s Answer IWB gets most of the publicity, but people just love their Texas Heritage IWB’s. It’s just so dang comfortable and it’s all premium Hermann Oak cowhide.

    He knew right away.

Posted by Rob Longenecker on 9th June 2008

What would prompt a guy to write a review of a new IWB holster only an hour after he got it in the mail? Usually, people like to wait to form an opinion. This guy received his Tucker Gunleather Answer and knew right away what he had in his hands.

He could appreciate the quality and workmanship but when he put it on, it surprised him how well the holster worked, even without any break-in.

     Here’s his review.

Have you got your Answer yet or are you still filling up your holster drawer?
