Gals buying guns in Chicagoland.

Posted by Rob Longenecker on October 28th, 2009

Women are buying more guns in Chicago in reaction to a downturn in the economy and an upturn in crime.

More good news – many are looking for professional training. Tucker and I used to have a shooting school in the 1980’s and 75% of our students were women.

They were good students because accepted training and wanted to be better. Most of the guys “knew how to shoot.” (Wanna bet on that?)

One thing we noticed for sure – a woman will shoot you in a heartbeat if she’s threatened – especially if her kids are threatened. Like a mama grizzly bear.

Check out the story here.

What’s the best gun for a woman’s first gun? Any opinions? Stories? We’d like to know.

I saw a good point on a forum recently. Whatever the woman likes to shoot, if it’s a semi-auto, make sure she can rack the slide.

My mom carries a model 25 S&W in .45 long colt. You can always tell when she has it with her because her purse weighs 10lbs.
