New Rule Lifts Ban on Firearms in National Parks

Posted by Rob Longenecker on December 8th, 2008

WASHINGTON (AP) – People will soon be able to carry concealed, loaded guns in most national parks and wildlife refuges. The Bush administration said Friday it is overturning a 25-year-old federal rule that severely restricts loaded guns in national parks.

Way to go President Bush!

The park rule will be published in the Federal Register early next week and take effect 30 days later, well before Obama takes office Jan. 20. Overturning the rule could take months or even years, since it would require the new administration to restart the lengthy rule-making process.

Here’s the rest of the story.

Another thumbs up for President Bush who, in 1996, when he was govenor of Texas, signed in the right of citizens in Texas, to carry a concealed weapon with the proper (CHL) permit.
The libs always say the same thing “blood will run in the streets” or the forests in this case. It never happens. To be isolated in a forest, with no protection, is a bad guy’s ideal situation. I wonder how many people have been killed or hurt by two or four legged predators since this law was passed originally?

It will be interesting to see how Obama deals with this. If he tries to overturn it or let’s his underlings do so while trying to keep his fingerprints off, it’s something that can be used against him in the 2010 elections.
