Calls for the “Fairness Doctrine”
Posted by Rob Longenecker on November 5th, 2008
The Fairness Doctrine is a law that demands a “balance” of opinions be presented on public airwaves, primarily effecting talk radio. The Democrats may be pushing for a reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine in the months ahead. If enacted, it will kill talk radio as we know it.
Here’s what Senator Charles Schumer (no friend of gun owners) said yesterday on Fox News about his desire to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine. Please pay attention to this subject and let your elected representatives know your opinion if this comes up for legislation in the Congress.

There might be hope. One Democrat said technology has made it obsolete. Hopefully there are enough conservative Democrats to stop it.

Whether or not it’s obsolete is immaterial to the liberal mind. Liberals don’t listen to talk radio and consume very little news. Liberalism is fundementally a perspective based in passion/emotion and not based on facts, nor logic. Such perspective does not require much in the way of information, evidence, or discussion to flourish. What the so called “fairness doctrine” *is*, is a tool intended supress conservative discussion and dissemination of conservative views. It’s not about the idea that there must be an hour of liberal talk for every hour of conservative talk. It’s about, since there is no liberal talk radio (comparatively) there should be no conservative talk radio. They’re after Rush, Beck, Hannity, and the terrifying Alex Jones.
