  • The Emperor has no clothes.

Posted by Rob Longenecker on July 7th, 2008

It may turn out that Barak Obama may be another Emperor with no clothes. Even the “lefty” kids are pointing fingers and daring to say he’s naked. Should we say, “All show and no go?” Barak’s not walking his talk, and people are noticing.

Even Bob Herbert, a lefty columnist in his recent New York Times Column (requires paid membership to read so I didn’t post a link.) is pointing to Obama’s pretense of being a “new politician,” while saying one thing and doing another.

Herbert writes: “Senator Obama is not just tacking gently toward the center. He’s lurching right when it suits him, and he’s zigging with the kind of reckless abandon that’s guaranteed to cause disillusion, if not whiplash.”

“What’s he doing?” is the most common question heard recently from Obama supporters.

“He seems to believe that his shifts and twists and clever panders — as opposed to bold, principled leadership on important matters — will entice large numbers of independent and conservative voters to climb off the fence and run into his yard.

Maybe. But that’s a very dangerous game for a man who first turned voters on by presenting himself as someone who was different, who wouldn’t engage in the terminal emptiness of politics as usual.”

This promises to be an interesting summer in politics.
