I want Reagan back!

Posted by Rob Longenecker on October 10th, 2007

Barak Obama won’t wear a flag pin in his lapel anymore.  The story from the Associate Press reads:

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said he doesn’t wear the American flag lapel pin because it has become a substitute for “true patriotism” since the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.Asked about the decision Wednesday in an interview with KCRG-TV in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the Illinois senator said he stopped doing so shortly after the attacks and instead hoped to show his patriotism by explaining his ideas to citizens.

“The truth is that right after 9-11 I had a pin,” Obama said. “Shortly after 9-11, particularly because as we’re talking about the Iraq war, that became a substitute for I think true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security.

“I decided I won’t wear that pin on my chest,” he said in the interview. “Instead, I’m going to try to tell the American people what I believe will make this country great, and hopefully that will be a testament to my patriotism.”

I have to wonder what convoluted and politically correct brain fart occurred in that man’s mind to have him stretch so far on that one? Maybe, if your a democrat, you just can’t afford to appear too patriotic anymore.

I heard his reasons. I don’t buy them.

Where’s Ronald Reagan? I want him back!

I know. He’s gone. The current crop of presidential candidates on both sides make me appreciate President Reagan even more now.

Please. Getting all het up about A CHEAP PIECE OF JEWELRY instead of the guy’s ideas and positions is lunacy. It’s like voting based on the candidate’s hair color or his choice of boxers or briefs. Paying attention to such a moronic accusation is good evidence of flatline brain activity.

My Army service shows my patriotism, and no amount of cheap, made in Taiwan jewelry will equal that. You want to show how patriotic you are? I’ll tell you how, and it doesn’t involve cheap jewelry, but you are too cowardly to do it.

    Enlist.

One more thing. Reagan should have been impeached for his multiple violations of the Constitution.

    Repack Rider,
Sorry you got plugged in by the opinion I expressed about Obama’s comments about not wearing the flag pin. I appreciate your taking the time to respond, and I think your use of words like “lunacy,” “moronic,” “flatline,” and “cowardly” added a nice flavor to your post.

Tucker and I actually did enlist. He was Airborne and a Ranger. I was a Naval Aviator and attack pilot. Thanks for your service.

I could care less whether Obama or anyone else actually wears a flag on their lapel. I was pointing to Obama’s explanation and the likelyhood that it was designed only to elicit a political impact with the far left.

    Right on, Rob.
