While the politicians fight each other and buy votes and power with money extracted as taxes from one and given to another under whatever guise, the enemies of civilization watch and marvel at our immorality and stupidity. They wait for the time when their system can replace it. We are indeed rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic...while the politicians are rescued by their magic helicopters of power. The Islamofacists sharpen their beheading swords in the lifeboats already below. And when the politician's helicopters finally land, the same sharp knives await them. I am worried that they will put their own religious doctrine ahead of common sense and do much harm to many scientific endeavors. For example Stem Cell Research being the one that is strongly on the fore front. With a nation that believes so strongly in GOd (at least the Christian one) we have to worry about the Christians trying to put their moral beliefs in front of those of non-Christians.
